Do I need the app to run a speed test?
No. You can run a test straight from your browser on our speed test page. Downloading the free app for iOS or Android lets you test on the go and adds your results to the crowdsourced coverage database.
How do I get an accurate average speed for my location?
Run several tests in sequence rather than relying on a single result. The app can run multiple tests back to back so you end up with a fair average for where you are instead of one snapshot.
Will speed testing use a lot of my cellular data?
That is up to you. The app lets you set data limits for testing, so you can keep an eye on how much of your cellular allowance goes toward speed tests.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
If you are signed in, deleting your CoverageMap account permanently deletes all of the data you have uploaded. Every speed test result tied to your account is removed from our system for good, not simply hidden or unlinked from your profile.
